I can't believe it's been three weeks since I've updated this. For shame, self! Though, in my defense, I've been extremely busy. This semester is out to kill me via brain eatage. I suppose I don't have it as bad as most in my class. I've decided to take a year off before college in order to save up and take a three-month trip to Europe (exciting!) so I don't have the added pressure of getting all my college shit together asap.

In addition to studying my ass off, I started a new job at the local radio station. Basically, I run commercials and take the commentators on and off the air as needed during live events. I've accidentally talked on air twice and missed just as many commercial cues, but I'm new to it so I'll cut myself some slack. I'm really enjoying it so far and it's making me consider Communications as a possible major; well, that and my Journalism class. I never thought I'd enjoy the more technical side to writing but it's a nice break from the usual creative writing routine.

I've also been working on my novel (see here and here.) It's coming along nicely, albeit slowly. It turns out this whole idea is much harder than it looks but I'm determined to finish it just for the simple fact that I paid $20 for that scrapbook.

Supernatural season 5 is here! I have written a complete recap/response, so if you want to avoid being spoilered, please don't read. Kthanxbye!

SEASON OPENING ZOMG. SEASON 5 ACTUALLY STARTS OUT WITH SAM AND DEAN HOLDING EACH OTHER. THANK YOU, KRIPKE.

Anyway, there is the big, impending doom of the glowy portal, then BAM! The boys are randomly on a plane. Obviously, fighting the minions of hell all year has desensitized Dean to his fear of flying, since he didn't look like he was about to piss his pants this time. Oh, Dean.

Enter Prophet!Chuck, randomly assaulting Sam with a blunt object. "Are you okay?" "Well, my head hurts." LMAO.

Sniff. Even though we know Cas isn't really dead (Misha's name in the credits was kind of a giveaway,) I still teared up a bit when Chuck said he was dead. If exploding sucked for Jack Harkness, it probably sucked for poor Cas too.

BECKY! OH MY FUCKING GOD. Emily Perkins is a gem. Clavicle-sucking, "This is wrong" "I don't want to be right", THE BOYS TALKING HUSKILY. I think she may be the personification of wincest fans everywhere. "It's all real." "I knew it!" We love you too, Kripke.

I don't know whether to squee or be jealous of the fact that she had her hands all over Jared. Just saying. "Could you stop touching me?" "No." UM, what the hell does he expect!? If I got to meet him, I probably wouldn't stop touching him either.

Oh, Bobby. That's cold, dude. I actually teared up a bit there. Sam's kicked-puppy look was just TOO MUCH. Also, Dean seems to be falling back on his usual coping skill: avoid, avoid, avoid, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID GODDAMMIT. We love him anyway.

Doesn't Bobby have some anti-possession mojo going on? The boys have tattoos, and if I recall, Bobby was the one who gave them the charms to ward off possession at the end of BUABS. So, what the hell!? OMG MEG. I don't think I like her new meat suit, but whatever, it's MEG. She's so damn evil, but you have to love her anyway. Though, did anyone else notice she kicked Sam between the legs? I was screaming, "HEY! WATCH THE PADACOCK!" at my tv and waving my arms around like a crazy person. Nothing new there, then.

D'OH. Dean is giving it to Zachariah at every turn in this episode. Of course we knew Castiel was going to pop in and save the day at the last minute. It's, like, a tradition on Supernatural. HE IS KICKING ASS THIS SEASON. Anyone else think his new angel-juice was given to him by God himself? Why else would Zachariah run away with his tail between his legs? For serious.

I busted up when Bobby was bitching at the hospital staff. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. The little moment between him and Sam gave me some serious warm and fuzzies. We all know you care, Bobby. AWWWWW!

YES, DEAN! THAT'S MY BOY! You kick everyone's ass and teach them who's boss! Though, of course he reverts back to his wibble-face once he's outside. DAMMIT, DEAN! I was expecting make up sex after your little moment with Sam in the finale. DON'T RUIN IT FOR ME.

All in all, it's fucking great to have them back. This is a kickass episode to start off the season. ALSO, YAY NO RUBY! I was kind of concerned that Lucifer would bring her back since she was such a loyal follower. Which could actually still happen, now that I think about it. GODDAMN IT.

ETA: I'm writing a scene-by-scene recap later tonight, for those of you that didn't get to watch it. :D

I swim in the summertime. Probably a side-effect of all those years of my childhood spent participating in competition swimming. <-Worst days of my life. I loved to swim, but I hated to compete. I'm not an overly-competitive person by nature. I'd rather just mind my own business and have other people do the same. But, you know, sports parents and their need to live vicariously through their child's athleticism.

I mostly ride my scooter on the hot days now. But I suppose I won't be doing that for a while, what with the whole wrecking thing the other day. (Yes, I know, I'm sad to wreck my scooter but ouch.) Oh well, I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm a hopeless klutz and I can't go a day without hurting myself.

I'm writing a new book. I'm doing it in the scrapbook novel (? Is that what it's called? I really don't remember) format. That's basically when you tell a story through various written forms (i.e. letters/postcards sent, journal entries, etc.) Usually, they are put into a scrapbook-type of book along with little nick-knacks that pertain to the story. Some also write in a notebook/journal to emulate a diary, or write on various pieces of paper and stationary and bind them together as a collection of letters.

I've seen some amazing ones done. Some have pasted the envelopes for the letters into the scrapbook with stamps, postmarks and everything (you have to pull the letter from the envelope... kind of like the pop-up book evolved,) and added so much extra stuff to make it realistic. Of course, the only downfall is that you can only have one copy, but the uniqueness and flexibility more than makes up for it.

The novel I'm writing is about a girl in a mental hospital, so I'm telling the story through her journal entries. I started it in a composition book, but I have been thinking about switching to a scrapbook and add the notes from her psychologist and the specifics of her file. I could also make an actual "file" with her information, doctors notes, and the composition notebook. Though, I'd probably lose things left and right if they were just lying in a manila folder.

I haven't decide how I'm going to pursue it yet. I'll have to give it some more thought. Opinions?

I've been really busy lately. I started four summer classes, much to my chagrin (but what can you do?) and I've been working tirelessly on my magazine. I'm also organizing a "book swap" where people donate books and for about three days, other people can come through and trade a book for one of the books that were donated. Then, all of the books are going to be taken to Appalachia--they are crazy-poor there and there is a "clothing swap" every year so I thought, why not send books too? I'm really excited about it. I like to do charity work when I can, but there are not a lot of opportunities where I live. Plus, I love reading and it makes me happy to think I'm helping someone else develop a love for books. (:

I had my first official meeting for my magazine today. :D I don't know if I've mentioned this on here before, but I've been planning a horror-based literary magazine for, like, years now. Basically, I'm going to publish about 5-6 (the exact number is still undecided) short-stories that readers send in; spotlight a certain urban legend/folktale/creature each issue with accurate information about the lore; fun articles about the occult (Ghosthunting Handbook, anyone? :D); ticklemepanic will be answering reader's questions about the supernatural (lore/advice/whatever else); and we may or may not add a section where I/one of my employees investigate a "haunted" site (I should probably keep Michael away from this section, because I won't be able to resist posting the video on the website, in which he is probably screaming like a girl.)

The meeting was exciting and we covered a lot of issues. The only thing we disagreed on was whether to do an ezine or a printed magazine. Joelle and Michael voted for online, but I still want printed. As editor/creator I may just say, "WTFE, I'm the editor, I make the rules. We are doing printed." I think the conspiracy against printed is because they know I will have to do the entire set-up if we go online (jk, guys!) They cried HTML-retardation five minutes into the meeting. It was a good test for my unimpressed-boss face. It excites me to know that particular facial expression comes quite naturally.

We are also accepting reader-submitted articles, because I will be damned if I will be writing some of them them on top of editing everything. Reader-submitted photography is welcomed, too. Also, any suggestions/what you'd like to see in the mag are always appreciated. :D

It's a bit delayed, but here is my response to episode 4.18 of Supernatural:

Okay, first of all, I missed the damn episode and had to catch it on YouTube on Friday. It had surprisingly good quality, so I didn't complain... much.

I loved the idea of talking about the fandom within the canon. I thought it was a unique spin on things. And the publisher? Made me giggle so hard. She is like the average ~~Supernatural~~ fangirl. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have personally had the whole "It's so much better when they express their man-pain!!!!!" conversation. AND YOU ALWAYS KNOW WHEN IT'S COMING because they always pull over the car and get out to have their chick-flick moments on the shoulder of the road OR they start an argument that quickly leads to them sharing their man-pain in a strategically-scheduled, confessional crying tiem (aka the end of the episode, usually.)

I had mixed reactions on the whole Wincest reference. I was laughing hysterically throughout the whole scene until Dean slammed the laptop closed and said, "That's just sick." OKAY WE GET IT! YOU DON'T APPROVE OF THE INCESTUOUS BUTTSEX! ~~Get over it~~ Kindly ignore it and let us ~~make them take it up the ass multiple times~~ have our fun in peace. They are trying so hard to shove the het down our throats right now. What with giving them multiple sex scenes in one season and trying every possible way to make them appear arrow-straight. We know that they are not really gay ~~(even though they act like it sometimes.)~~ Throwing multiple love interests into, like, every episode is not going to deter us. We will just find a way to twist the situation to our benefit and then bitch about the predictability of it. We are slash fans and we have been doing this for years, people. Don't fuck with the professionals. XD

Chuck was just adorable. "I am the prophet Chuck!" <-LOL at that. We love you, Chuck. Even more so now that we know you can't die. Kripke actually saved one of his characters from his let's-kill-off-all-the-characters-the-fans-love ways. If only Andy'd had an archangel protecting him.
